Community Center and Playground District

Background
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury appoints special districts, boards, commissions, etc. for the purpose of providing specific services for a designated area within the Parish. Each of these districts and boards governs its own activities and has its own budget. The district of Ward Six and its board members serve the DeQuincy area.
This board is called the 'Community Center and Playground District No. 1 of Ward Six,' but you may hear it commonly referred to as the 'Rec Board.'
Mission
Our mission is to maximize all available resources to deliver parks, recreation facilities, and programs that are attractive, clean, functional and provide impactful, memorable, and intentional experiences. The Board will serve citizens to create a desirable community to live, work, and play.
Vision
Studies have shown that kids who participate in youth sports perform higher academically, maintain better mental and physical health, and acquire occupational advantageous traits, such as discipline and accountability, that persist across a person's life.
With this in mind, we are striving to enhance the recreational opportunities for the community of DeQuincy, Louisiana. It is our goal to create high quality, maintained parks, recreational facilities and programs that are accessible and affordable for all, as well as a culture within these programs, that promotes accountability, unity, and a healthy lifestyle to impact residents of DeQuincy for generations to come.
